10 Weirdest Real-Life WWE Friendships

5. Bob Holly & Billy Gunn

Upon first glance, it's weird to think that these two would be such good friends. Hell, given his (exaggerated) reputation for being grumpy and short-tempered with others, it's hard to believe that anyone would want to be friends with Bob 'Hardcore' Holly. Indeed, Holly has commented in interviews since leaving WWE that he doesn't keep in touch with many of his former co-workers and you never heard of Holly being backstage at a WWE show 'visiting friends'. But Holly had at least one friend in Billy Gunn. The fact that Gunn, the mooning and outlandish former DXer and Holly, a quiet and reserved tough guy, are friends is not as surprising as you might think. First of all, these guys survived the dark times of the mid-90s together, when the company was at a creative low and paycheques weren't exactly great. Both guys were straddled with lame gimmicks during the era and used to ride together (Steve Austin would sometimes tag along too). Holly tells a story on his RF Video shoot interview of how he punched Billy Gunn in the face at the start of a match in Kuwait on a dare from Henry Godwin. How sweet. From there the two battled each other in the hardcore division in 99 and then formed a forgettable team in 2004. Gunn and Holly apparently began complaining backstage around this point, claiming that they had paid their dues and that they deserved the pushes that no-hopers like Kenzo Suzuki, Heidenreich and Mordecai were receiving. Looking at that list, perhaps they had a point.
