10 Weirdest Ways Wrestlers Got Injured
Accidents happen...but not like this.
Injuries, unfortunately, are a part of the wrestling business. Just like botching a promo or riling up fans online, no matter how hard you try to avoid them, they are inevitable eventually... unless your name's The Miz.
We've all seen a referee throw up his arms in that dreaded 'X' signal mid-match and feared the worst; some wrestlers valiantly soldier on and finish the match despite no doubt excruciating pain, and others simply cannot continue because they've got a hurty finger.
Nevertheless, today we're going to look at unusual ways in which performers have managed to get injured. Honourable mentions have to go to Samoa Joe who managed to sustain a concussion during filming for a WWE advert, Sheamus who got injured for real whilst getting injured in storyline, and Barry Windham who accidentally got shot by his own pistol (?!).
Ranging from stars who managed to break their ankle simply getting out of bed, to ones that inexplicably hurt themselves on their way to the ring for a match, and featuring an incident you frankly will not believe, these are ten of the weirdest ways wrestlers got injured...
10. Goldberg Severs A Tendon Punching A Car Window
Goldberg is no stranger to hurting himself in ridiculous ways, though thankfully, he appears to have toned down his pre-match routine of headbutting something as hard as he can to psych himself up. A simple pep talk works just as well Bill!
On an episode of WCW Thunder following Starrcade '99, Goldberg was on the hunt for the nWo. Having attacked the likes of Jeff Jarrett and Scott Hall, he set his sights on Bret Hart. However, before he could get his hands on 'The Hitman' he escaped via a limousine, and so Goldberg decided to vent his fury on another limo in the parking lot which was there for 'The Powers That Be'.
After initially smashing the limo's windows using a concealed pipe in his hand, he dropped the weapon and instead began using his fists instead. This resulted in a shard of glass from the window severing a tendon in his arm, causing him to lose copious amounts of blood and according to some reports come within a centimetre of losing his arm entirely.
The injury took Goldberg six months to recover from, and when he returned the Monday Night War was all but over.
