10 Weirdest WWE Matches Ever
9. Owen Hart Vs. Ken Shamrock - Dungeon Match (Fully Loaded: In Your House)
At Fully Loaded: In Your House, Owen Hart defeated Ken Shamrock in the WWF's first and only Dungeon Match - one fought in the famous titular room, in which the forgotten practice of stretching was commonplace. A novel idea, it was meant to differentiate itself from the traditional wrestling narrative that the WWF, in 1998, were intent on distancing themselves from.
Nobody told Ken Shamrock, who, at the top of the ground floor stairs, approximated his usual entrance, the theatrics of which were slightly undercut by there not being anything remotely resembling a grandiose staging area. He looked like he was playing wrestler at his mate's house.
Farce quickly gave way to surprising brutality.
With no ring ropes or cushioned apron with which to perform a conventional match with a degree of safety, Hart and Shamrock were instead moved to smash one another's heads into the panelled wood walls to create excitement in a contest which otherwise resembled a tame mixed martial arts sparring session.
Coming full circle, the finish was as farcical as Shamrock's entrance. After a rep bump, Hart trapped Shamrock into something with looked almost antithetical to a submission, after knocking him senseless with a dumbbell. Any attempts at realism were tossed out when fellow heel Severn "bought" Hart's Weekend At Bernie's-esque forced tap out.
