10 Weirdest WWE Matches Ever

8. The APA Invitational Bar Room Brawl (Vengeance 2003)

Matches like the APA Invitational Bar Room Brawl worked when they were presented in actual bars - filmed uniquely to excuse and make palatable the evident farce.

Instead, hokey-looking saloon staging was erected by the entrance ramp for this match, the rules for which were as simple as they were stupid: the last man drinking would be declared the winner. The attempts at comedy were like a game of hack comic improvisational oneupmanship. Doink the Clown was a contestant, as was the Easter Bunny (Damien Sandow, of all people). It was held in July.

Bruce 'Brother Love' Prichard also comprised the field, and made some risible homophobic cracks about the APA being altar boys. Not to be outdone in the Edgelord stakes, Bradshaw referenced cannabis use when announcing the rules. Take that, Mary Whitehouse.

The match itself, obviously, was abysmal. Shannon Moore and Matt Hardy performed fairly dangerous high spots, senselessly; the concept and execution of the match was excitement-proof. Funaki got a bigger pop by falling off his chair before Bradshaw had a chance to brain him off it.
