10 Weirdest WWE PPV Main Events Ever

4. John Cena vs R-Truth - Capitol Punishment 2011

Sticking with R-Truth and 2011, let's take a look at the one and only time Truth ever had a televised singles match for the WWE Championship.

The venue was Capitol Punishment and the defending champion was John Cena. Truth had turned heel the previous month, going on a series of deranged rants about how there was "a conspiracy" against him and how he was done entertaining the kids in the audience.

This was a very, very watered down version of his former character Ron Killings and thank God it was, because there is no way WWE could have handled a topic as sensitive as racism in 2011. Or any year, to be honest.

Killings had been extremely successful outside of WWE, scoring two reigns with the prestigious NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, but he hadn't been given anywhere near the same sort of push by the McMahons.

He felt severely out of place in the main event scene at the time and, since he's gone on to become a silly comedy character in recent years. this pairing feels even stranger with the power of hindsight.
