Following his loss to The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, WWE had a chance to do something really interesting with John Cena's character.

Instead, they booked him to have a main event match with an authority figure.

At Over the Limit 2012, John Cena fought John Laurinaitis, the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown who hadn't been a regular wrestler since the year 2000. This No Disqualification match would determine whether or not Laurinaitis would get the sack or not and, as you can imagine, it was a load of rubbish.

The ironic thing is that, back in his day, Laurinaitis - or Johnny Ace, as he was known - was a good worker. He's actually got two Dave Meltzer five star matches, which is one more than Cena can claim.

However, those matches were a long time ago and nobody wanted to see a sad, middle-aged man get beaten up by a jacked-up action figure for 17 agonising minutes.

To make matters worse, Big Show turned heel for the thousandth time, knocked out Cena, and put Laurinaitis on top of him to give him the victory.

Meltzer did not give this match five stars, in case that needed clarifying.
