Improv comedian Drew Carey's appropriately impromptu entrance (and exit) from the Royal Rumble in 2001 was a bit strange at the time, but not massively so. What is bizarre is WWE constantly promoting the moment, and even inducting Carey into their Hall of Fame on the back of his three minute contribution to the business.

It's not like Carey was doing it for the good of the industry; he was in New Orleans with the sole purpose of promoting his upcoming PPV, appearing in a skit alongside Vince McMahon as he petitioned 'advice'. The comedian's wandering eye in the direction of the chairman's ex-belle Trish Stratus landed him in hot water, and as an act of revenge McMahon suggested he enter the Rumble for the sake of publicity.

He did, and he was chased away by Kane, and oh wasn't it hilarious we simply fell about.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
