10 Weirdest WWE Tryout Stories
3. Triple H & Shawn Michaels Buried CM Punk During His Tryout

CM Punk has been a polarizing figure in the professional wrestling industry from the get-go, and has frequently found himself at loggerheads with his co-workers and bosses over the years. He had the same relationship with Triple H back in the day, and according to a former WWE writer named Court Bauer, Triple H's issues with CM Punk go back to the days even before the latter became an official WWE superstar.
Punk signed his first WWE developmental contract in 2005 after competing in a series of tryout matches, the first of which happened in 2003. Court Bauer recounted an incident during one of the tryouts in his Bauer & Pollock podcast and revealed Triple H and Shawn Michaels buried the Straight Edge Superstar backstage as they watched his match with Vince McMahon in the Gorilla position.
Bauer stated that Triple H and Shawn Michaels badmouthed Punk based on his looks and in-ring style in front of the former WWE Chairman and former head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis. However, despite getting buried by two of the most influential figures in WWE, Punk ended up getting a contract in 2005 and made his television debut the following year.
