10 Wild Outside Bets To Win WWE 2019 Women's Royal Rumble

6. Asuka

Asuka Royal Rumble
WWE

The dual winners of Royal Rumble 2018 provided fans with the WWE feel-good moment of the year (in January, which tells you everything). The more time passes, the more it seems their triumphs were designed to kill their momentum.

The outcome of Asuka's historic win in the first ever women's Royal Rumble was a carbon copy of Shinsuke Nakamura's own unexpected win. The dawning of a glorious new era it was not, as both Japanese stars blew their WrestleMania opportunities - and with it, their main-event aura. Perhaps that was the whole point.

Asuka's tumble has left her in an even greater tumult, yet because time doesn't operate in straight lines in WWE's universe, she has more chance of a repeat than Nakamura. The Empress spent months being buried at the hands of Carmella, of all people, before transitioning into a moribund, time-filling tag team. But it doesn't matter! She's in the TLC title picture all of a sudden, and could just as easily win the Royal Rumble again.

Probability: WWE love going down their predictable 'not predictable' route - plus Asuka vs. Ronda writes itself.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
