10 Wild WWE Matches You Forgot Almost Happened

8. Mick Foley vs. Mr. McMahon (WrestleMania X-Seven)

Hardcore great Mick Foley considers WrestleMania X-Seven one of the biggest regrets of his storied career. Why? Well, the Mickster was one of the early plans drafted up for Vince McMahon on the most lucrative show of the year. Almost unbelievably, Foley knocked the pitch back because he was "overthinking".

Mick once told Inside The Ropes that he was "a stickler for details" and didn't much like some of the "holes" in the plot. So, the WWF changed tact and went with Vince's son Shane in a McMahon vs. McMahon battle. It's fascinating to learn that Foley was initially in that slot opposite Vince, not Shane.

Bit of a clanger from Mrs. Foley's baby boy there!

Mick didn't want to beg for his on-screen job back after being fired. He didn't think that'd be a great look for his babyface character, meaning the match with McMahon was off the table. Looking back, the artist formerly known as Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack wishes he'd swallowed his pride and rolled with it.
