10 Wildest Wrestling Lawsuits Ever
8. "F*** Jim Cornette"
When you're in the news for all the reasons Jim Cornette is often in the news, you have to develop some pretty thick skin.
However, even Corny's reptilian hide can be punctured every now and again, as it was by indie wrestler G-Raver in 2019.
Following some of the commentator's disparaging remarks on death match wrestling, G-Raver started selling shirts bearing Jim Cornette's likeness. Except this likeness had a load of knives sticking out of it. And the words "F*** Jim Cornette" written above it.
Right.
Understandably, Cornette was rather upset by this. He filled a lawsuit against Raver, which the wrestler tried and failed to have blocked.
However, the mama's boy came up short when the injunction was dismissed on the grounds of free speech. The court ruled that Raver's work came under parody and that the shirts were legally distinct enough from Cornette's likeness to be allowed to stand.
Not sure how to feel about this one. On one hand, it's great to see a small creator standing up to a much more prominent force. On the other hand, he did depict a man being stabbed in the head.
This is very conflicting.
