Mojo Rawley's singles push is dead in the water, as witnessed by his loss in Sunday's Fastlane Kickoff Show.

It is one thing to lose to Bobby Roode prior to the Royal Rumble when the United States Championship is on the line. It is another thing entirely to lose to Tye Dillinger, who has been anything but protected by WWE management since his call-up to the main roster.

Rawley, a former professional football star, has the mainstream connections and athletic background WWE values but he has not been able to connect with an audience the way the company likely hoped he would. Now, he swims in mediocrity, an afterthought on this Road to WrestleMania.

Some will argue that it is his fault but from all angles, he is a vastly improved performer than he was as a one-dimensional babyface and has proved as much in several of his YouTube exclusive promos. He has made great strides in the ring and has the look of a star.

For whatever reason, he has been unable to take that next step and be the star that he has been groomed to be since his days in NXT.
