The Rock and Fake Diesel never went at it, but The Rock and Kevin Nash had the one singles match on WWE TV. This bout happened on an episode of SmackDown just after WrestleMania X-8, by which point Hogan had turned back to the good side at the behest of the thousands of Canadians in attendance at the Show of Shows. The New World Order had thus been reduced to just Hall & Nash, as it became clear that the WWE version of the group was dead in the water.

The match was everything one would expect of a Kevin Nash match in 2002, a whole lot of stomping and stalking with Scott Hall getting involved as often as possible on the outside. That is a little unfair in truth, as Nash was more mobile here than many may remember, hitting a smooth sidewalk slam and keeping his taunt game tight throughout.

The inevitability of Hall causing a disqualification was too much however, and after seven minutes of action that is exactly what happened. Rocky had more luck punching Hall over the top rope than he did with Nash, but the combined might of The Outsiders was too much for The Great One. Rocky is put through a table, before Hogan turned up to clean house, leading to X-Pac joining the nWo.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
