5. Sami Zayn Jobbing
Sami Zayn was seemingly due for an interesting 2019. After returning from injury post-Mania, Zayn began some brilliant heel promos attacking the fans and more directly the smarks. This seemed like a promising direction and like WWE was really going to take this fan favorite and turn him into a big time player.
That is, until they didn’t do that at all. One needs to look no further than Simon Miller’s Sami Zayn loss tally to see the damage they’ve done to his image. He feels at this point like the guy who is put into a match to take the pinfall. Triple threat match has too much star power and nobody wants to lose? Turn it into a fatal fourway and have Sami take the pin. What a way to ruin a promising talent. How quickly WWE forgets that Zayn was being cheered over John Cena of all people back in 2015.
And it is very strange considering Zayn is one of the most talented promo guys in the business. The quip he made about Raw Reunion being like watching the attitude era through faceapp was brilliant.
