10 Worst Animal-Related Angles In Wrestling History

10. The Islanders 'Dog-Nap' Matilda

Collectively known as 'The British Bulldogs', Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid were one hell of a team. Individually, they were excellent workers, but together the duo were easily one of the best the WWF had to offer in the late-1980's. 'The Islanders' were initially babyfaces, but Tama and Haku turned heel when aligning themselves with Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan. Entering a feud with The Bulldogs, Heenan's crew decided to steal the English tandem's mascot, known as Matilda. The bulldog was handed to Davey Boy and Dynamite to help establish that they were babyfaces, ones who certainly would take good care of their dog. The Islanders didn't do the same, or at least that was the story told by Heenan and other WWF announcers. During an episode of Prime Time Wrestling, the heels 'dog-napped' Matilda from ringside. They would then be shown in various skits toting a leash, pretending to pet an imaginary dog. This was designed to infuriate The Bulldogs, who were eventually reunited with the mutt. The angle was simple, but it didn't do much for either team in the long run. Fans didn't really embrace Matilda the way company officials wanted them to.
