10 Worst Animal-Related Angles In Wrestling History

9. Jack Swagger's 'Soaring Eagle'

In 2010, WWE really wanted to create new headline stars. One of the young wrestlers they were majorly interested in was Jack Swagger, who possessed the size and in-ring skills the promotion were looking for. Better yet, Swagger came from a legitimate sporting background, and was in his late-20's. Shortly after WrestleMania XXVI - where he won 'Money In The Bank' - he was handed the World Heavyweight Title. The man's short title reign wasn't a raging success, and he was pretty much back where he started by the end of the year. A large part of Swagger's problem was that he didn't have an awful lot of personality, but that was deemed something WWE could work on. Running out of ideas, the creative team decided to give him an animal mascot, playing the situation for laughs. Known as the 'Swagger Soaring Eagle, the mascot was basically Chavo Guerrero in a bird costume. Straight from the off, fans refused to take the situation at all seriously. Even when the character was comedy-laden, people just didn't really care about it. The eagle was there to play on the 'All-American-American' persona of Swagger, but it was a flop.
