Kurrgan was signed by WWE in 1997 to be a dominant foreign big man as part of a group known as The Truth Commission. He didn't talk. He didn't show emotion on his face. All he did was look like a badass. The gimmick didn't work well because he was such a limited performer and so were his allies. Since he was a tall man that was probably about 6'8" (and billed at 7 feet) while weighing 350 pounds, WWE decided to re-invent him. He ended up joining the comedy stable known as The Oddities that really accomplished nothing of note. They were just there to wrestle meaningless matches on Heat or lose to guys on Raw. He was a guy that WWE likely had high hopes for, but his inability as a talker and the lack of talent he displayed in the ring really held him back. Just because a guy is big doesn't mean he can be a good pro wrestler. Kurrgan was proof of that. These days he's working as an actor using his real name Robert Maillet most notably in films like 300 and Hercules.
