It's easy to understand why WWE was interested in signing the muscular Australian Nathan Jones in 2002. He's about 6'8" and 300 pounds of muscle. He looks intimidating as soon as you look at him, but as we've seen many times over the years looks can be deceiving. In February 2003, I was at a Smackdown taping. At the time, Jones was a babyface that was backing The Undertaker and they were feuding with Big Show & A-Train to set up a tag match at WrestleMania 19. Jones ran into the ring for a save. All he had to do was hit some spin kick on A-Train. The first time he tried it, he missed by about three feet. They had to do it again. The second time he tried it, the kick actually looked good except that Jones fell on his face after he connected with it. They had to film it again. The third time they did it, everybody was just laughing at how bad he was and he actually did it well. We gave him this sarcastic cheer. Lucky for him, Smackdown was a taped show that WWE could edit. Jones looked out of place as soon as he started on WWE TV in 2003. He was supposed to be Undertaker's tag partner against Show & A-Train at WrestleMania 19. They even did the tag match at house shows a few times. There were reports that they practiced the match at Undertaker's ranch several times and Jones was so unimpressive that they just removed him from the match. They said he was injured, but he was involved in the finish. Undertaker basically won a handicap match. Later in 2003, WWE turned Jones heel to try him out that way. It didn't last that long. He ended up leaving WWE in a very unprofessional way because when they were on tour in Australia he just stayed in the country and didn't travel with WWE anymore. He quit while they were on tour in his home country. Post wrestling, he's had some success in films most famously in the 2004 movie Troy starring Brad Pitt.
