10 Worst Booked Dream Matches

7. Hulk Hogan Vs Kevin Nash (WCW Monday Nitro, January 4th 1999)

AEW Full Gear 2020
WWE Network

Ironic that a wrestling story so well told centres around a match that had virtually none at all on the night it took place.

New WCW World Champion Kevin Nash was red hot after beating Goldberg in an enormously divisive finish just days earlier at Starrcade. At the pay-per-view and on this very Nitro, fans popped huge for the moment, highlighting how popular 'Big Sexy' was and the potential heat WCW generated by gambling their one last great hand. The ropey execution with the tazer couldn't have been forgiven had they maintained some truly remarkable in-industry buzz. It was about to be doused for good with the poke of a single finger.

On a show that needed the most violent revenge act in wrestling, the company instead hauled the former Champion away in handcuffs. Forced into to defending himself from accusations of being Miss Elizabeth's stalker, Goldberg was long gone when Nash and the conveniently-placed Hulk Hogan had their sham match for the belt he'd been screwed out of.

From the 'Grandaddy Of 'Em All' onwards, the fix had been in to get the title back to 'Hollywood' and revive the New World Order. Amongst a litany of other isues and amidst total chaos, the first ever Nash/Hogan meeting was blown through too.
