10 Worst Crossovers In Wrestling

4. Chucky

After Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Slumber Party Massacre and Leprechaun, Child’s Play was THE best slasher series of the 80s and 90s. It had been seven years since we’d last seen Chucky on TV, and there was no better place to hype his long awaited return than World Championship Wrestling, just in time for Halloween Havoc.

For weeks, we’d hear a mysterious cackle on TV, and had no idea who it was coming from. It was either a new wrestler, or Tony Schiavone being tickled by Mike Tenay behind the announcer’s desk. One night on Nitro, Rick Steiner came to the ring with Gene Okerlund before he was interrupted by Chucky. Gene Okerlund pretty calmly said “Get that dummy out of here!”

Now there’s two ways to take it, either Gene knew it was someone controlling a puppet, or he should have been terrified because a doll just came to life. Neither choice makes for good TV. Chucky casually kind of threatened to murder Rick, and told people to watch his upcoming movie.

“Bring your raggedy rear end down here.” was all Rick had in response. It’s really hard to come back from that one. And shouldn’t someone have been concerned with arresting Chucky? That doll has killed a lot of people, but none so decisively as how he murdered that segment.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
