10 Worst Endings In WWE SummerSlam History
1. SummerSlam 2010
In 2003, WWE killed the momentum of one mega-hot wrestler. In 2010, they did the same thing with seven.
The story of The Nexus has been told many times. They were a group of rookies led by Wade Barrett who caused carnage on WWE TV to try and change the system.
The system fought back in the form of John Cena and his team of WWE loyalists.
The two groups were pitted against one another in the main event of SummerSlam 2010 with the fate of the company on the line. The match was very well-paced and had some good moments, especially from the recently-returned Daniel Bryan.
However, the ending was every shade of wrong.
After hanging out on the apron for most of the match, John Cena got beaten up by his own teammates, beaten up by The Nexus, and then DDT-ed onto the exposed concrete floor.
Despite sustaining this ungodly punishment, Cena sprung up like a jackrabbit moments later and single-handedly beat both Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett to win the match for his team.
WWE had the chance to make seven new stars. Instead, they sacrificed them all to one man who was already the biggest name in the company.
Baffling.
