When you're famed for being one of the most outspoken fighters in MMA history, which Tito Ortiz definitely is, the odd excuse is always going to pop up from time to time.

One of those very excuses sprung up in the wake of Ortiz' fierce rematch with first ever TUF winner Forrest Griffin at UFC 106 in 2009.

After the pair had pummelled lumps out of each other for three solid rounds, Griffin eventually had his arm raised for the victory via split decision.

However, instead of taking this narrow defeat in his stride like the seasoned veteran that Ortiz definitely was at this stage of his career, he chose to highlight exactly why he lost the fight in question.

Coming off the back of a recent back surgery, we all believed that Ortiz would be back and better than ever. Yet, that wasn't the case as Ortiz - in his own words - had come into the fight with a 'cracked skull'.

This was eventually disproved as there was no mention of the injury in the post-fight medical suspension records and how would he have even been medically cleared to fight with a cracked f*cking skull?!

He had a go, but few fans will ever let him forget this limp attempt to save face in the wake of a soul crushing defeat.
