10 Worst Excuses For Terrible Wrestling Moments

1. Vince ‘Wanted To Give’ Melanie Pillman Time

What Happened: Grieving widow Melanie Pillman was interviewed on the WWF's flagship show Raw just 24 hours after finding out her husband Brian had died in a hotel room. Vince McMahon pushed and prodded Melanie on-air for details about Brian's death during the 6 October 1997 episode, and even wondered how she'd cope going forwards.

People were disgusted by this sensationalistic approach towards recent real-life tragedy.

The Excuse: Bruce Prichard has implied via his podcast that McMahon genuinely just wanted to give Melanie a chance to tell her story. That's called brainwashing, folks. It's definitely difficult to swallow the idea that Vince put Melanie on television so soon after Brian's death because he was trying to help her out. Come on now.

This was blatant exploitation of a grieving widow, and the Raw segment was booked in seriously poor taste. Shoving a camera in Melanie's face whilst she was coming to terms with Brian's passing was awful. Just awful. No amount of federation spin could change that.

Sorry, it couldn't.
