Cody Rhodes is the son of ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes and brother of Dustin Rhodes aka Goldust. He has revitalized his career in and out of the ring since leaving WWE in 2016.

Rhodes embarked on a unique barnstorming tour that included stops in Ring Of Honor, Impact Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and the NWA. He then helped form AEW instead of simply signing with another company. None of this might have been possible if it wasn’t for the gimmick that helped him walk away from WWE.

In the summer of 2014, Rhodes transformed into a Goldust-like character called Stardust to team with the aforementioned. Although he did his best to work with the unusual gimmick, it didn’t have the same complexity and attraction of the Goldust character. After numerous requests and creative pitches to shelve the strange character fell on deaf ears, Rhodes asked for and was granted his WWE release.
