10 Worst Injuries Suffered In WWE Ladder Matches

3. Joey Mercury

WWE.comWWE.comArmageddon 2006 featured a four team ladder match for the WWE tag team championship between MNM (Joey Mercury/Johnny Nitro), The Hardy Boys, William Regal/Dave Taylor, and Paul London/Brian Kendrick. Joey Mercury received what might be the most graphic injury on this countdown when he received a ladder shot to the face during the bout. This shot immediately caused blood to come gushing out of Mercury's nose. Immediately aware that the injury was severe, he rolled out of the ring to safety. After the match, Mercury was given 5 stitches inside of his nose and 15 stitches outside of his nose. It was also said that he was temporarily blinded from the injury. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xvkq7_armageddon-2006-wwe-tag-team-titles_sport The event marked a major turning point in Mercury's career, as it eventually lead to his demise. When Mercury came back to the ring, he wore a protective mask while trying to compete for a few months, but it was evident that his confidence just was not there any longer. He was soon released from the WWE and has not been back. Mercury occasionally has still wrestled on the independent circuit, but he is still looking to regain the success that he once had in the WWE early on his career.
