10 Worst Matches From WWE's Saudi Arabia PPVs
5. Shane McMahon Vs. Roman Reigns (Super Showdown 2019)
It’s hard to imagine today’s Roman Reigns selling for AARP cardholder Shane McMahon for more than 10 seconds before dispatching him, but back in 2018, not only did the future Tribal Chief sell for Shane-O-Mac, he lost to the boss’ son.
Just let that sink in. Roman lost to Shane. Yes, Drew McIntyre interfered and nailed Reigns with a Claymore, but good lord people, the fact this was remotely competitive shows just how delusional WWE booking can be. The match was laughable for McMahon’s offense, as he sweated and wheezed his way through things, while the then-four-time world champion had to pretend that feeble offense hurt him.
Keep in mind that Reigns had just returned from battling leukaemia four months earlier and was actually connecting with fans as a babyface due to that real-life struggle. And so naturally, WWE had the boss’ son defeat the former world champion who beat cancer.
Brilliant strategy guys.
