Ah yes, WWE’s tournament to crown the “Best in the World.” The tournament actually did feature some of WWE’s top stars, but the eight-man field whittled down to a final of The Miz versus Dolph Ziggler.

Think about that: The Miz versus Dolph Ziggler to determine the Best in the World.

Oh, but it gets worse. Far worse.

Miz got injured moments into the match, leading to SmackDown GM Shane McMahon somehow injecting himself into the contest as a replacement. And then Shane-O-Mac won a 3-minute match to be crowned the winner of the WWE World Cup and the “Best in the World.”

In a single stroke, WWE turned a tourney they seemed to be lending legitimacy (top starts participating, dedicating TV time on Raw and SmackDown and then seven matches on PPV) into an absolute joke, a bad punchline that would have elicited groans and maybe even boos if it happened in the States.

This also kicked off Shane’s full-fledged heel character that was an absolute disaster, so this really was one of the worst moments of the Saudi shows.
