The 1998 edition of Halloween Havoc could very well be the most 'WCW' pay-per-view in wrestling history. The card was stacked from top to bottom, with huge names and big time matches including Bret Hart vs. Sting, Kevin Nash vs. Scott Hall, Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior, Rick Steiner vs. Scott Steiner and more, and was headlined by Goldberg's WCW Heavyweight Championship title defence against DDP.

What follows is a show with a strong undercard and a run of nWo-related matches in the middle that drag and drag, before a main event that got cut because of time constraints. DDP and Goldberg put on what may well have been the best match of Goldberg's career - but then, such a statement really doesn't say a lot. A pro wrestler of Goldberg's style simply isn't able to have what is considered a 'great match'.

Goldberg wins a fairly pedestrian main event after hitting DDP with the Jackhammer and the crowd went wild, but then WCW crowds were going wild all the way up until the very end. This match was by no means a 'must-see' bout. In fact the only 'must-see' match on the card is Hogan-Warrior II, a match that got the full minus five stars from Dave Meltzer.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
