Most wrestlers who break through to the main event scene at some point try their hand at acting. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is trying to become a major action start now with varying success and Batista, who no one thought could act his way out of a paper bag, is wowing cinema audiences in Guardians Of The Galaxy. But the one who did it first was Hulk Hogan. His 1991 comedy Suburban Commando that co-starred Shelley Duvall and Christopher Lloyd, is nowhere near as bad as people claim. Helmed by veteran director Burt Kennedy, Hogan plays Shep Ramsey, an interstellar warrior who is forced to take a vacation on Earth. The film was originally called Urban Commando and was written for Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger but they opted to go with Twins instead. But as much as we like Suburban Commando, Hogan's movie career in general has been a Gobbledy Gooker sized turkey. Aside from playing Thunderlips in Rocky III, Hogan moved into the ''family comedy'' genre and made total stinkers like Mr Nanny (1993), Santa With Muscles (1996) and the totally forgettable 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain (1998). And let's not forget the Eric Bischoff produced Shadow Warriors: Assault on Devil's Island and Shadow Warriors: Hunt for The Death Merchant. Both were intended as pilots for a new TV show and the fact you have never heard of them will tell you how successful they were.
