The Lita/Kane/Matt Hardy love triangle was one of the most ridiculous WWE angles of the 21st century, feeling less like a professional wrestling storyline and more like a B horror movie. The angle began with Kane repeatedly jumping Lita's onscreen (and real-life) boyfriend, Matt Hardy, in an attempt to seduce the redheaded diva. A short while later she cut a promo announcing that she was pregnant, and Matt came down to the ring to propose the following week. The pair were interrupted by Kane, who claimed that he was the father of Lita's unborn child - a fact later verified by a DNA test. He and Matt fought in a SummerSlam match under one of the most ridiculous stipulations ever: Lita would be obliged to marry the winner. The legal implications of this were brushed over without too much consideration. Kane won an underwhelming bout (in just six minutes), and wedded her on the following edition of Raw. Then, unbelievably, the storyline took an even more farfetched (and greatly offensive) turn. Relative newcomer Gene Snitsky accidentally caused a "miscarriage", striking Kane with a chair and causing him to fall on Lita. The pair put aside their considerable differences - like Lita being married against her will - to team up against the heel. This new feud would last the rest of the year until Kane finally defeated Snitsky at New Year's Revolution, but should never have seen the light of day in the first place.
