10 Worst Summer Angles In WWE History

4. Vince McMahon's Illegitimate Son - 2007

Few angles in the history of the WWE were as downright silly as the saga regarding Vince McMahon's "illegitimate son". The owner of the company seemed determined to feature heavily in 2007's summer angle, regardless of its content. Originally he faked his own death, a storyline which was quickly (and wisely) nixed after the Chris Benoit tragedy. Instead, WWE fans were treated to an even more excruciating saga with a terrible pay-off. Vince became the subject of a kayfabe paternity lawsuit, which revealed that a member of the WWE roster was his illegitimate son. Originally this was planned to be Mr. Kennedy, an up-and-coming superstar readied for a huge push. He fell victim to an untimely injury, which forced the company to scrabble for a replacement. On the September 10th edition of Raw, the son's identity was revealed. After teasing a reveal of the son as Triple H (which would have brought about some uncomfortable incest-based implications, given The Game's marriage to Stephanie McMahon), the mystery man was revealed to be none other than...Hornswoggle. The revelation was received extremely poorly, and led to a number of terrible skits between the "father and son" - including a horrendous mocking of Jim Ross' Bell's palsy - before it was retconned. Finlay was outed as the true rather, rendering the entire storyline pointless as well as awful.
