The early days of TNA were a mess of homophobia, sexism, racism and debauchery. One of the worst examples came within the first few weekly PPVs of the promotions existence, when K-Kwik (now better known as WWE's R-Truth) confronted NASCAR drivers Sterling Marlin and Hermie Sadler. Things began normally, with the heel Kwik claiming that the guests weren't real athletes and threatening to kick their asses. Standard bad guy behaviour. However, things took a turn for the disturbing as Sadler claimed nobody could take Kwik seriously due to the way he was dressed (a do-rag and tank top). Brian Christopher then interfered on the racers' behalf, making references to "our people" and "your people", poorly-disguised racial undertones that the Alabama crowd cheered along to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-FsqcCG1U4 Kwik took offence and eventually faced Sadler in a singles match, one the NASCAR driver dominated. He even gained the win after a Dusty finish.
