The Claire Lynch storyline is perhaps TNA's version of the infamous "Katie Vick" angle in the WWE. Both involved women never previously seen or referred to in the wrestling business and contained incredibly dangerous allusions to sexual assault. The character of Lynch was portrayed as a pregnant drug addict, claiming that AJ Styles was the father of her unborn child. Styles claimed that he was unable to remember sleeping with her, but was shown photos of Lynch posing alongside him in bed - potentially implying that he was taken advantage of in a clearly inebriated state. Styles went on to challenge old rival Christopher Daniels, now an ally of Lynch's, in a match with perhaps the most bizarre stipulation in wrestling history. If AJ lost, he would admit to being the father, but would earn himself a DNA test if he were to win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrrRwbXADz0 Styles won, but before the test results could be revealed, Lynch's lawyer (actually played by Dixie Carter's mother) revealed that Claire had faked the pregnancy all along, bringing an incredible car-crash of an angle to an end. It's a shame that such a fantastically talented wrestler as AJ will forever be associated with such a horrific storyline, but not everyone appears to share such an opinion - Eric Bischoff reportedly received a raise for coming up with the whole idea.
