10 Worst TNA Matches Of All Time

10. AJ Styles vs Abyss - Destination X 2010

It might seem a curious decision to have this match top the list - AJ is one of the finest workers of the 21s century, while Abyss is perfectly capable in the ring and has a unique menace about him. However, their clash for AJ's TNA World Heavyweight Championship represented the peak of an atrociously booked feud. Styles' title reign seemed a smart decision at first. As one of TNA's longest-serving and best wrestlers (he even appeared in their first ever match), AJ was finally being recognised for his dedication and loyalty to the company. The fans loved it. Then, for whatever reason, he was turned heel and aligned with Ric Flair in the middle of his reign. Simultaneously, Abyss had made an alliance with Hulk Hogan, who had given the monster a newfound confidence by letting him wear his magical ring - heavily implied to be his WWE Hall of Fame ring. This ring allowed Abyss to channel Hogan's power and defeat his foes. No, really. Their match at Destination X was a microcosm of everything wrong with TNA - two old has-beens forcing themselves into a feud which would have been perfectly fine on its own, topped off by an atrocious ending to the match. AJ and Abyss worked a perfectly reasonable contest until Ric Flair interfered on behalf of the champ, spraying the referee with pepper spray. Hogan came out to even the odds, and in all the confusion Abyss chokeslammed AJ THROUGH the canvas...which led to a DQ. Hogan, like a buffoon, presented Abyss with the title - which the referee immediately took away - and the pair threw Flair, AJ, and an interfering Desmond Wolfe into the hole in the ring. They proceeded to celebrate wildly, conveniently forgetting that Abyss hadn't actually won the title at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5GPmeVVAAg
