One day, professional wrestling promotions will learn that having co-champions is almost always a bad decision. Whatever novelty there is in having two people fight over the rights to a championship dies away pretty quickly, and the belt becomes more of a comedy prop than a prestigious prize for the best of the best.

In July 2004, Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian became co-champions of the X Division after they retrieved the belt at the same time at the climax of an Ultimate X match that also involved AJ Styles. Their title reign lasted all of two weeks.

Unless you are Chris Jericho and Chyna, a co-champions situation simply doesn't work. This is proof of that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
