Remember The Vaudevillains? Remember when they were NXT Tag Team Champions? Remember when they were actual contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships? Us neither.

Aiden English and Simon Gotch got called up to the main roster following WrestleMania 32 and became one of the more featured tag teams in the company.

They earned the opportunity to face tag champs, The New Day, at Extreme Rules after defeating Enzo and Cass at Payback. That match was actually quite extreme, but for all the wrong reasons, as it was the match that had to be stopped early when Enzo Amore hit his head on the ropes and got knocked out. Yikes.

2016's Extreme Rules had a fair mix of extreme matches, with AJ Styles battling Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship in a No-DQ match and Dean Ambrose defeating Chris Jericho in an Asylum Match. The less about that, the better.

The New Day vs. Vaudevillains match was one of two matches on the card without a stipulation, the other being Rusev vs. Kalisto for the United States Championship. The tag title match was a rather bland affair, especially considering all of the drama surrounding it.

The Vaudevillains were such a footnotes in The New Day's record-breaking tag title reign and this match was a footnote to that footnote.
