10 Worst Ways WWE Butchers The English Language

8. "Championship Opportunity"

The words "title shot" or "title on the line" don't exist in WWE. No, worthy Superstars get a "Championship Opportunity.''

Sometimes this makes sense. ''The winner of Money in the Bank gets a championship opportunity at a time of their choosing.'' It's generic because it's not known who the cash-in will be on. With specific matches, though, it's got an odd context and it sounds much more natural to say ''The Fiend is putting his title on the line at SummerSlam'' or ''Braun Strowman has earned himself a shot at The Fiend's title.''

Those don't fly, though. In fact, Vince hates the phrase ''on the line'' so much that in the notorious leaked 2008 memo about many of these banned words, ''on the line'' was underscored with it's own secondary comment about how anyone using it will particularly draw Vince's wrath.

And titles never ''change hands'', because that implies a lack of work or that there was no drama involved. In the WWE world, ''championship'' and ''title'' denote hard work and superior dedication in a flawless match where everything went as planned.

Except for, say, a botched 3-count in the main event of WrestleMania 35...
