4. Mae Young - Mother Of A Hand
The late Mae Young is one of the most respected and revered female competitors ever to lace up a pair of boots. An NWA veteran with over 70 years in the business, Young began wrestling while Hitler was still in power, and even became synonymous with WWF’s Attitude Era back in the day. It was during this time that Mae Young gave birth to a human hand.
Explanation doesn’t really do it justice, but the ‘Hand Angle’ began when Young started dating (and fell pregnant to) WWE Superstar Mark Henry. Ever the maverick, the 77 year old went into labour whist smoking a huge cigar, but ultimately gave birth to a rubbery hand covered in amniotic fluid, rather than a human being.
Young and Henry’s grown-up hand-spawn appeared on the 1000th episode of RAW in 2012, as an awkward nerd sporting glasses, and somehow, a human face. It’s one of the most insane, terrible gimmicks to ever appear on WWE TV, but it is looked back on fondly as a genuinely funny moment of surrealist comedy.
