10 Worst World Champions In WWE History

1. Vince McMahon

The Great Khali World Title
WWE Network

In 1999, WWE was so successful that it seemed like the company could do no wrong. With the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to see just how much of the product was faulty, but whatever was going on at the top of the card did draw a ton of money.

Vince McMahon apparently felt that his good fortune gave him the latitude to engage in one of his most ego-driven impulses. Never allowed to be a wrestler by his father, McMahon had nobody stopping him when he was in his 50s, and he soon gave himself his own World title.

In July of '99, McMahon was driven out of WWE "forever" after Undertaker suffered a loss to Steve Austin, but six weeks later, WWE Champion Triple H goaded McMahon (who was at Smackdown as a "guest") into a title match. Austin interfered on McMahon's behalf to give him the win and the gold. Austin helping his worst enemy win the title just to get under HHH's skin was pretty dumb, and McMahon - a non-wrestler - winning the belt was even worse.

Finally, to really make the whole scenario a disaster, McMahon just vacated the title on the next episode of Raw - meaning there was truly no reason to do it in the first place.
