Vince McMahon falls easily in love with corny, quirky gimmicks, but he also has a history of falling out of love just as fast and moving onto something else. Such was the case with Brodus Clay.

Clay debuted in his Funkasauras character shortly before WrestleMania XXVIII, and was given a pretty big push out of the game. It was a bit strange, as he had The Cat's old theme song and even his catchphrase of "Somebody call my momma!" Well, since the boss loves his dancing characters, he gave Clay an entire WrestleMania segment to do his thing. It's just that his thing wasn't very good. It was kind of a one-note joke that played itself out fast.

The Funkasauras emerged with Naomi and Cameron to inform us we were all going to call our mommas that night. As Clay spoke, you could almost hear in his voice that he realized what a lame pile of garbage he was about to unload on us. And it really, truly was.

"Momma Clay" came out, but she certainly wasn't related to him. She was a young woman in a wig, with an extreme amount of padding to make her look bigger than she actually was. Her friends in "The Bridge Club" then joined her and they all danced for a few uncomfortable, stereotypical minutes. Of course, the announcers acted as if it was one of the greatest things they'd ever seen, but for the fans it was basically the moment where Clay jumped the shark.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
