Terry Taylor is the perfect example of what a rotten name change can do to someone's career - initially wrestling in the WWF as 'Scary' Terry Taylor, the guy would then turn heel, aligning himself with Bobby Heenan as his manager. Playing the gimmick of a less-than-accomplished grappler who desperately need Heenan to coach him through matches, Taylor was called The Red Rooster. Taking things to the extreme, when Taylor turned on Heenan, thus becoming a babyface, he started dying part of his hair red, spiking it up to resemble an actual rooster. To make matters worse, The Red Rooster actually had mannerisms like the animal, strutting around the ring and making rooster noises to the fans. Quite how anybody thought this was going to get over big is really stunning. After leaving the WWF and wrestling for a while in WCW, Taylor would once again return, this time as 'Terrific' Terry Taylor, mainly working as a jobber-to-the-stars. Make no mistake about it, The Red Rooster was a disaster, one which pretty much cost Taylor any chance of success.
