The main event for SummerSlam 1994 is not one that is remembered too fondly.

Not only did it deny Bret and Owen Hart the headline spot for their 5-star Steel Cage classic, it was just generally a plodding dumpster fire of a match.

It thankfully only lasted nine minutes, a stark contrast to that of the aforementioned Hart clinic that passed the half hour mark.

Despite a few failed tryouts years earlier, Brian Lee was plucked from Smoky Mountain Wrestling to portray the Fake Undertaker and feud with the real deal for the second half of the year.

Lee had travelled the territories and independent scene as he looked to get his foot in a door, but still being in his 20s when called up for the Undertaker role, he was just a bit green for the big stage, let alone going on last on his first PPV main card.

Scuttlebutt says that the twin 'Takers were set to keep feuding into 1995 with Lee remaining in the role, but those plans were nixed after the SummerSlam farce fell further than flat with not only the crowd, but the company as well.

Lee was immediately let back onto the territories, returning to Smoky Mountain and other promotions before coming back to the WWF very briefly a few years later for a short run as Chainz.
