10 Worst Wrestling Masks

3. Mighty Yankee

Oh. Dear.

This one likely came out of left field for most. Mighty Yankee was a gimmick played by Tony Anthony in Smoky Mountain Wrestling during the early-to-mid-90s. If you don't know who Anthony is, look up the WWF's T.L Hopper to see him fighting off feces during the SummerSlam 1996 pre-show.

Before that became his fate, Anthony sported one of the worst masks you'll ever see in Jim Cornette's Appalachian territory. Yankee's hood was ahead of its time, in fairness, if only 'cause it looks like a shocked-face emoji. A shocked-face emoji from some knock-off Android phone on eBay, but a shocked-face emoji nonetheless.

Worse, the mask looked like it barely fit Tony's head. There's a weird shrinking quality to it that didn't exactly make Yankee look threatening (or "Mighty"). Check the fan just over Tony's right shoulder too. His scowl says it all, and shows that wrestling fans knew Yankee was less Mil Mascaras and more Milhouse from The Simpsons.
