All rise for the national anthem:

The Roman Reigns story is probably the most fascinating tale WWE have told in years, and they've done it through sheer will of not listening to the audience. At the moment, we are in year four of the Roman War of Attrition, and given how WWE are rolling in so much Saudi Arabian/FOX/NBC Universal money they're able to get Shawn Michaels to come back, I think it's clear they will win the battle against... us.

But where did it begin? The first shot fired in this war was undoubtedly the 2015 Royal Rumble. By then, people had started to realize that perhaps Roman wasn't quite ready as a main-eventer. Making things more complicated was Daniel Bryan's return from injury. The setup was perfect, in theory, for Bryan to win the Rumble, face Brock Lesnar, and win back the title he never lost.

However, WWE had a plan, and by golly, they were gonna stick with it. As a result, they got the worst boos ever in Philadelphia. Keep in mind, debacles like King of the Ring 1995 have happened here. Nothing that happened in the match remotely mattered after Bryan was eliminated because at that point, the crowd were done. The end of the show where the crowd boo The Rock out of the building is one of the most morbid curiosities of the modern era.
