10 Worst Wrestling World Title Reigns Ever

7. Rey Mysterio - April 2, 2006 To July 23, 2006

Vince McMahon treated Rey Mysterio less like an investment he regretted, like NXT UK, and more like a streak of sh*t he couldn't remove from his shoe no matter how much he tried to scrape it off or had Finlay job it out in a 6:00 non-title TV match.

Rey Mysterio won the big gold belt at WrestleMania 22 in an appalling bid to exploit Eddie Guerrero's death. WWE realised that they could shift more t-shirts, if he was posthumously promoted as a spirit inhabiting the body of his best friend, and that, some-f*cking-how, is barely satire: at the 2006 Royal Rumble, it was suggested that Guerrero's ghost had meddled with the tumbler to lumber Rey with the #2 position in a friendly rib.

If you want to exploit my death, you're gonna have to work for it!

Rey won the title, at which precise point Vince gave up. A cursory scan of Cagematch.net creates the impression that Mysterio hadn't just won a World Championship, but rather had let his beard win or whatever deranged sh*t infuriates that lunatic:

The aforementioned 6:00 defeat to Finlay; a 5:18 loss to Mark Henry; a 3:29 loss to the Great Khali; Mysterio was like a 1992 Superstars jobber suffering a similar arc to the Shaker Heights Spike.
