10 Worst WWE Championship Matches In WrestleMania History

6. The Miz Vs. John Cena (WrestleMania XXVII)

I'm gonna say something that might shock you: this match had the potential to be really good. Maybe not amazing, but with WrestleMania XXVII being the dud that it was, this had the potential to be one of the positive highlights instead of the rotten cherry on top of a really bad sundae.

The pre-match ceremonies are really something else. Miz comes out to the epic "Hate Me Now" video package that by now most wrestling fans are familiar with, and then John Cena is introduced by a massive church choir and a video package that features a solemn prayer to Jesus (I don't know why, but it's kinda cool). As the match starts, the crowd are really into it, and Cena and Miz play their parts really well.

Unfortunately, once the two collide over the barricade just as the match should be getting into second gear, everything goes to the pits. The two are counted out, and for a minute or two, it's actually played up that WrestleMania is going to end with a double count-out. Then The Rock comes out, and after a few minutes of filibustering, he restarts the match as No DQ. However, instead of getting that badly-needed second wind, Rock gives Cena a Rock Bottom, allowing Miz to pick up the scraps and pick up the win.

If this match had just been allowed to stand on its own instead of being a prologue to next year's main event, maybe it would be fondly remembered.
