10 Worst WWE Gimmicks Of 2016

5. Mojo Rawley

The best thing you can say about Mojo Rawley is that his presence gives the under-utilised Zack Ryder a purpose on SmackDown. He’s enthusiastic, relatively athletic, and connects with WWE’s younger audience, but watch his over-exuberant performances for longer than ten seconds and you’ll soon realise that he’s got one of the most irritating gimmicks ever devised.

Mojo doesn’t get hype, he stays hype… and that’s the problem. His character is a child in a man’s body, and all that shouting and screaming can’t mask his lack of natural charisma. Mojo’s the kind of guy who, if he was sitting behind you on a long-haul flight, would keep you awake by kicking the back of your chair and screaming to his buddies for the duration. He’s incapable of staying still for a single second, and it’s impossible to take him seriously as he bounces around the ring like a kid who’s eaten too many Skittles.

His in-ring arsenal consists entirely of running into people, which doesn’t help his cause. Mojo’s probably a great guy behind the scenes, but his gimmick isn’t going to make him anything more than a novelty act on the main roster. Unfortunately, he was called-up from NXT entirely too soon, though he’ll likely enjoy decent airtime in SmackDown’s thin tag division.
