10 Worst WWE Gimmicks Of 2018

1. Nikki Cross: Crazy Person

Nikki Cross is the absolute worst character in WWE because she obliterates the one thing critical to everything that happens in this weird little sport: the suspension of disbelief.

It is literally impossible to suspend disbelief for anything she does. Anything.

Scuttling around Full Sail like a scarab beetle, Cross was a central figure in the recent Aleister Black whodunit saga. Her presentation undermined everything about the angle. 'Unhinged' to the point of parody, this talented performer gave 110% to her role (which is to her credit), but she was asked to portray a character that shouldn't exist within the confines of a modern wrestling universe, particularly on a brand as reality-focused as NXT.

Then comes the second part of this horrific character: its archaicness. 'Crazy' Nikki Cross is no less distasteful than 'Crazy' Alicia Fox. Both hark back to a time when WWE's women were often presented as reductive whackjobs, not believable, three-dimensional human beings. It's sad that despite all the progress made throughout the ongoing Revolution, the writers still come back to material like this, and that such a large portion of the Full Sail audience have taken to Cross doesn't make her gimmick any less problematic.
