The thing about Goldust in a hardcore match is that it's almost identical to Goldust in a regular match. He never took full advantage of the stipulations and had a tendency to only incorporate the bare minimum number of hardcore spots into his matches. His unimaginative use of the trashcan is what happens when WWE brass tells one of their performers before a match "Oh, hey, would you mind hitting him with something from underneath the ring tonight? Doesn't matter what it is or how you do it, just...do it. Cool?" He was clearly being pushed out of his comfort zone every time he worked a hardcore match. (Which says a lot, considering this was a man who came to the WWE as an androgynous S&M character obsessed with touching himself.) And although none of his matches suffered too much because of the stipulation, it certainly never elevated them, either.
