10 Worst WWE Mistakes In 2018 (So Far)
4. That Backlash Main Event
Both Seth Rollins vs. The Miz and AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a No Disqualification match would have been more popular picks to close out Backlash earlier this month. Even with the silly non-finish in the latter, fans would have stayed in the arena. They didn't stick around for the entirety of Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe.
Chants of "Beat The Traffic" ripped through the Prudential Centre in New Jersey, and the slow mid-section of the match left those not fond of Reigns heading for the exits; work the next morning was a priority to some over a match that, to WWE's chagrin, wasn't the main selling point of the show or the reason they bought a ticket.
That has to sting, particularly for Joe. This was a chance for him to prove himself at the top of the card.
A large section of the WWE fan base dislike Reigns intensely though, so much so that they're willing to leave the building early and get a head start home. It was stupid to lay the card out this way when finishing with a popular babyface like Rollins was possible.
